The growl rumbled through the dilapidated building like thunder, the ground and walls seemingly vibrating with the intensity of it. Eva didn't need to turn around to know who was responsible for the sound. They way the vibrations ran through her, scorching her blood told her that Daniel was awake. Her body reacted instantly; chills ran across her skin and the familiar ache in her core nearly took her breath away. Her heat had been forgotten whilst trying to take down Ethan but now it roared into life, her skin sizzling with electricity as the scent of her arousal flooded the space around her.
Now she had two males to worry about.
Another growl erupted from Daniel, nostrils flaring as he instinctively breathed in the heady scent of Eva's heat. Male wolves were prone to losing their cool around unmated females in heat but Eva only had to look to see that whatever Ethan had poisoned Daniel with was riling him up to the point that he was animalistic. His eyes flashed amber when they met Eva's own eyes and he took a predatory step forward.
"Daniel, stop it!" Eva hissed desperately trying to ignore how her body reacted when Daniel's eyes roamed over her hungrily.
Without warning Daniel lunged at Eva, knocking her down and grabbing at her wrists to pin her down. Eva was all too aware of the friction between their bodies and how it toyed with her senses, a small whimper leaving her as electricity thrummed throughout her body, shooting straight to her core. Inside Kalla was frantic, wanting desperately to submit to her mate and let him mark her as the heat drove her mad with want. The wolf pushed her arousal onto Eva, clouding Eva's mind as she struggled against the male above her.
"Daniel! Please stop!" She gritted out as she caught Ethan making his escape from the corner of her vision.
In one quick move Daniel flipped Eva onto her front roughly, twisting her arms behind her with one hand while the other gripped her hair, yanking her head back to expose her neck. She screamed, struggling to free her arms while acutely aware that her backside was pressed tightly against Daniel's hips, the movement sending delicious friction into her sex. Her heart shuddered when she felt Daniel's hot breath fan her neck, his mouth moving closer to her skin as his fangs elongated and scraped her skin.
The grey beast stepped away and Eva's eyes widened in disbelief as the wolf transformed into a very naked and bruised Kade.
"Kade?" Eva gasped unsure if she was seeing things or not.
Before either of them could utter another word to each other, Daniel was up, howling in rage as his claws swiped at Kade blindly, blood pouring from his broken nose making him look even more savage. Kade just about dodged the attack, quickly shifting again and propelling himself off of his powerful back legs to lunge at Daniel just as the Alpha shifted as well. The sounds of snarling and snapping quickly filled the air, snapping Eva out of her daze as she scrambled to her feet and took off in the direction that Ethan had slipped off in.
The sounds of the two males fighting ricochet off the walls like bullets as Eva searched for any sign of Ethan. The cool early summer night air hit her as she ran out into the open looking around her only to be greeted with unfamiliar sights. Above the sky was clear and the moon sat like a silvery spotlight, bathing the yard of the disused warehouse in a soft glow and pitch black shadows.
The still air made it easier for Eva to hear the metal pole cut through it as Ethan swung the weapon towards her. Ducking, Eva used the momentum of Ethan's own movement to take him down by swinging a kick into his side. Themale snarled, chucking the pole away before lunging at Eva, knocking her flying and rolling across the stony earth, jagged stones digging into Eva's flesh as she tumbled. Ethan was on her in a second, his fist flying towards her face but Eva dodged so Ethan ended up punching the hard ground. A quick knee to the gut sent Ethan stumbling back and Eva was quick not to let him get his bearings back by landing punches to his nose, chest and side.
Ethan's knees hit the ground, the sadistic beast laughing as blood poured down his chin and chest. "I have to hand it to you, you're a feisty one, Eva." He laughed. "But you're not going to win this one."
"You would have but you didn't take this into account." Ethan grinned cruelly, his eyes flashing pitch black. Like a cobra pouncing on its prey, Ethan struck out, his foot catching Eva in the hip.
Eva's leg went out from her with a pop, the pain radiating from the dislocated joint making Eva cry out. She hadn't been prepared for the cheap shot and collapsed onto the floor as her system seemed to seize up from the pain. She felt sick as it rolled through her like a tornado, making it difficult to breath. She hadn't felt this kind of pain since the accident.
"Should have kept that left side covered." Ethan's voice came from above. His boot found Eva's hip and pressed into it making her cry out in pain, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I'm surprised you didn't know or that no one told you about that hip of yours. I spotted it the first day we met so I can only imagine others did."
Eva groaned, trying to ignore Ethan's mocking tone as she rolled onto her front and pushed herself up onto her hands and one good leg. If she could just get the joint back in the socket she could shift and let Kalla deal with Ethan. However Ethan didn't give her a chance, the wind rushing out of Eva's lungs when he slammed his boot into her ribs sending Eva crashing to the floor once more.
"You should have just gone along with my plan, Eva." Ethan sighed. He pushed the female onto her back, straddling her waist as he wrapped his hands around Eva's throat and squeezed, oblivious to Eva's struggles as he carried on talking as if discussing the weather. "Now I'm just going to have tokill you and take the title through Leah. I know there are some rogue groups who have a hand in trafficking who could deal with those brats of hers."
Eva could feel the dread building as she fought for air. She couldn't let Ethan destroy Leah's family too. Too many people had been hurt or killed because of this monster. Yet the more she struggled the heavier her limbs felt and block spots began to appear in her vision.
"I'm going to enjoy watching your life fade away." Ethan sneered as hetightened his grip. "I'm going to especially enjoy watching the poison slowly kill Daniel and there won't be a thing you can do about it."
